Hi this is a question for my mum not me.
She is using a chequebook still every month for diff bills etc, have tried to get her to set up direct debits but she wont, and she is worrying now because nationwide hasn't sent her a new cheque book if we pop into the branch on saturday would she still be able to request one because of this new account they have set up it says it doesnt include a cheque book but she has always had one on her account, and she has never gone overdrawn well over her overdraft anyway and has always paid everything on time etc, and she never wanted this new account but of course has been put onto it because they done away with the old cash card only account.
Any help would be great.
Thank you
Angela

If the new account says it will not come with a cheque bok then you won't be able to request for one. When they switched you over, the advisor should have listened to your requirements or you should have told them your minimum requirements. If she still insists on a cheque book then you need to apply for a new account. Bear in mind, it will be credit scored so hope her credit file is intact.0

Thank you for your reply there wasn't an advisor though she like me just got a new card in the post without asking for anything she still has her overdraft but didn't speak to anyone about changing, I don't bank mainly with nationwide only have some saving in there for a holiday so doesn't bother me much. But she needs her cheque book really and they are still cashing the cheques that she has been posting out since having the new card.0

If your mum has been downgraded to a CashCard only account she should apply to be upgraded back to a FlexAccount but with a VISA debit card (and cheque book).
From http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_account/managing_your_account/faqs.htmYou may be eligible for an upgrade if you have handled your account well. However, there are also circumstances where we would not be able to consider upgrading, which include if:- you are under age 18;
- your existing account has been open for less than seven months;
- you have applied for an upgrade within the last four months;
- your account has recently been overdrawn without our authorisation;
- you have missed payments for other Nationwide products you hold;
- your account has not been used in the last three months;
- you have missed loan, mortgage, or credit-card payments with other providers; or
- you are currently bankrupt or have an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) with your creditors.
