I've seen a Rover 25 1.6 engine 03 reg with under 30k miles for £1900 - I have no idea if this is good or not, any comments would be most welcome as would any other recommendations or warnings of what to avoid.

    Thanks

The 1.6 Rover 200 of the early 1990s was OK -- Honda engine -- but they messed up big-style with the K-series. Probably the most troublesome engine of recent times. I've never known one not to fail at some point.

The irony is that the 1990s cars, engine aside, were a damned sight better made than the Escorts and Astras of the same period. The early Mk4 Escort in particular was a complete bag of spanners, terrible car.

I had a 91 214si and loved it till... yes you've guessed it the head gasket went. Have never had or would ever have another Rover.
