Hi please bear with me as I am not very technically minded.
Can I connect my laptop to a TV? My TV is not HD and is not a flatscreen, basically its an old style one. Laptop is relatively new though!
Can you tell me if it is an easy thing to do and what cable(s) I need to use please. Pictures would be useful

VGA to scart/av cable would be the most suitable if your laptop has a monitor output on it

Sorry to complicate matters but I'm thinking this will only get the picture to your tv, not the sound because the graphics card output won't carry the sound signal - you'll need a seperate lead to get the sound across? This is the case with my pc that I connect to my tv. You might need one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Composite-Phono-Plug-3-5mm-Audio-Jack-Plug-Plug-2M-/220548947125?pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item3359bddcb5 to connect from the sound output(headphone) socket on your laptop to connect to the 'audio in' socket on your tv - usually you'll have 3 'composite' inputs on your tv - (the red, white & yellow sockets).0
