Hi,

I'm grappling with my new lappy and updates have come through at 15:00. Three updates, but it's been on the second on since just after 15:00, and since then it tells me that the update is 50% done. It says:

Installing update 2 of 3
Window Live Essentials 2011 (KB2434419)

It's now 17:40, surely it should be done by now? If so, is there anything I can or should do?

Please note that I've had XP until now, and I'm not terribly techie. :o

    Restart your PC.

"Have you tried turning it off and on?" -> it's surprisingly a good thing to try first!

    Is that a prompt I should see? I haven't.

But I'll do as you say re-start the computer. I'm brand new to it so I've tried very few things so far.

YEh hold power button down until it's completely off.
Unlike vista, Windows 7 is really good at fixing itself when IT messes up.

Haha it's a popular quote people in the IT industry like to use :)

Ok, here goes. I told you I'm not very techie, lol. I closed all windows and was preparing to restart when I saw a "windows" flag on the toolbar. I clicked on it and there it was, a dialog box asking me if I wanted to instal WL Essentials. It looks like the system was waiting for me to tell it what do do and I didn't know. :o

I'm learning this W7 malarkey little by little. Thanks for your replies anyway. :A

    It is. :)
Now I'm getting used to this very hard touch pad that takes me into all sorts of windows and stuff I don't want, LOL.
