Credit Card - applying now before redundancy

Hi there,

I am being made redundant in January - any suggestions on credit cards or bank accounts I should apply for now that are worth while? I will be self-employed and PAYE as of January - already have an Egg Money card for cashback.

Many thanks :T

If you're being made redundant you'll have some money so I wouldn't want a credit card if I were you. If the business you set up is successful then you'll have money to spare and if it isn't you'll have no debt.

What are you looking for in a credit card? The answer you give will determine what answers you get :)
  • Hi - I am quite money saving so I just want to scout out if I am missing a trick by not getting 'something' whilst still gainfully employed and with good credit record.

I don't *need* another card, it's just that there may be benefits i don't know about - I know about cashback but are there any other small business/self employed folks that have ideas/tips?

Also, the redundancy 'extra month' pay will no doubt not be 'extra' money, so much as paying for normal January bills as it will be hard to get business or a part time job in January.

I have a separate post here on this section re: 'taking the leap' into self-employment if anyone fancies throwing ideas over...

I'm open to any suggestions big or small - just brainstorming and picking your brains as I've never done this before...
