Hi,
I have one of these which we have taken out at work
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=320623736341
The sink looks the same but has the taps attached so they dont need to be drilled through the worktop
Now i'd like to put this in my utility room
At the moment my utility is just a worktop with a stainless steel 1 1/2 bowl sink & appliances underneath.
I'd like to get a unit made to sit the sink on & then have worktop on one side which will have the w.machine & d.washer under. On the other side will be a tall larder freezer.
Will i need something between the freezer & sink? space is limited.
Can i have the sink raised from the worktop & use laminate worktop of should i buy some wood worktop? i'm thinking ikea worktops £100 for 1.8m beech effect
Any recomendations?

this is probably a more helpful picture:

But the worktop would only be one side0 -
If space is limited then you do not necessarily need a stand/cabinet for the sink.

Fridge/freezers will require a gap around them for ventilation. 10mm may be enough. Check what is recommended for the model you have.
You can have the sink at whatever height you like, as long as it as comfortable for you to use. Height of a worktop is usually around 900mm from floor level. A Belfast sink on top of this may be too high for you.0 -

You need to make enquiries. The brackets do not need to be 55 long but need to be able to provide adequate support. A bracket 45d will probably be adequate but checks need to be made.
One thing you can do is find out the weight brackets are designed to bear. Check this against your sink. You can weigh the sink on bathroom scales. Then either work out the volume of the sink (l*d*h) and calculate how many gallons this is or simply fill the sink to the o/flow keeping a note of how much water you put in it. A gallon of water weighs 10lb. Add the weight of the sink to the weight of water it will hold when full.
A good pair of brackets may cost £50 or more but will still be cheaper than a cabinet.
Edit.
Sink volume 65*55*15 = 53625 cu cm = 11.79 gals.
Call it 12 gallons = 120lbs plus weight of sink.

Most kitchen cabinet makers do a belfast sink cabinet. Just google and you can see. Mind you, a decent carpenter can knock up a much sturdier one easily. You can even get away with just a basic wooden frame with a door on the front, or even just a curtain similar to in this pic
