If they can't compete, they'll go out of business. Simple market forces. The only people who would be annoyed, I guess, are those that work for them. Why are you cross their sale isn't very good? Shop at amazon instead!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

My mate was a Christmas temp there and they didnt keep him on cos their xmas was so bad! Its just annoying seeing an important company that I quite like having a sale once a week, and not offering any decent prices. It makes me sad, I want them to do well!0

I know what you mean. A local travel agent's just gone out of business after trading for a billion years or something. Can't complete with the interweb I expect. It's sad, but it's a sign of the times. If you love HMV that much you need to buy from them, regardless of price! Or, like everyone else, will you just get the best deal?

HMV's been going down the pan for an age because of poor management & bad decisions. They knew Virgin/Zavvi were being propped up by external cash for long enough, yet viewed them as the biggest threat to their survival, when the truth is the Supermarkets were, they went unchecked while HMV took great pleasure in watching Zavvi crumble (as they had with Music Zone before them) instead of curbing the supermarkets. They're shutting 40 shops (+20 Waterstones) in the next 12 months as a bare minimum & have lost MASSIVE amounts of value on the stock market because of their current situation - so frankly if there are still HMV's in 3 years i'd be massively surprised, online only presence from them incoming.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

HMV have to pay staff wages and shop rents, that's why Amazon can undercut their prices.
Sad, but with the rise in internet shopping, the High Street is looking ever more gloomy with each passing year."I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
I still get the odd thing from HMV which is cheaper than Amazon. It's generally the cheaper DVDs that you might get for a bit cheaper (classic sci-fi stuff, etc), though I did find one boxed set there too.Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0
