Can I have my wireless router near my TV?

I am wanting to get Sky Anytime+. At the moment, my router is on the landing. I can move it to the lounge as there is a phone socket there. This will prevent me spending £60 for the Anytime+ receiver. All I need is to spend a fraction of this on an ethernet cable or a phone line extension cable

As my phone socket and Sky+ are about 4m apart, does having a router near a tv distort the signal?

If the signal distortion isn't an issue, would it be easier to have the router near close to the tv or next to the phone socket?

There should be no problem with this.

If your phone is a cordless phone, then you have potential issues with signal degradation as it operates on the 2.4ghz band.

Your wireless will be functioning on 2.4ghz, 5ghz or like me, both.

But there should be no issues with the placement here.

DECT phones do not operate on 2.4GHz.
