hi,
i came across the website for dixons yesterday and i am interested in buying from it. i am wondering though. well hasnt dixons went out of existence? i am sure we have all seen the ads that say it is currys in the out of town shops, currys.digital replaces dixons in the high street and online it is currys.co.uk. so my worry is, is the dixons.co.uk site a scam trying to get peoples details? or is it genuine?
please help, i dont want to get ripped off.
by the way does anyone know what HDMI is? the item i am interested in has this and i am worried it is related to HD and wont work on my regular tv.

There's nothing to worry about, Dixons still exists - you're perfectly safe buying from there - although you'll most likely to find it cheaper elsewhere!
A while ago DSG (Dixons Stores Group) went through a rebranding in order to compete with the e-tailers. Dixons would leave the high street and be online only, and would be replaced by Currys.digital.
In case you are really interested, Dixons have gone into the "warehouse format" - pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap, they have set up another brand called suprisingly, Dixons Warehouse - there is one in Dudley.

thanks.
i did see something that is really cheap there for what it is. i dont want to mention the product here yet just incase everyone rushes in and buys them all up before i get the chance to get one myself.(no doubt with all my messing about they will probably sell out before i get one anyway)
one thing that contributed to my worry is it says as seen in the national press. well i havent seen anything related to dixons in the press since they changed over. i did initially find out about it via an email as well.0 -

although i couldnt find where it says for sure that it works with regular tvs. judging by what it is though i think it will. i just dont want to find out that i need an hd tv for it to work.0 -
I've just bought a Bosch dishwasher from Dixons online. They were about £100 cheaper than anywhere else, including Currys. They also deliver on Saturday and sundays - mine was free delivery too.
I have to say the service was excellent. They phoned on the saturday to check I would be in sunday and then phoned on sunday to say they would be about 15 minutes. £4.99 to remove the old one too.0 -
I have bought a digital camera off dixons last week. Cheapest on net as far as I could tell. Used free delivery, very very quick and excellent service as described above. My camera showing out of stock now and 25p cheaper! No need to be scared buying off this lot. Very happy indeed.0
