I have been offered a second hand ipad from a reliable friend. They went to to Orlando USA a couple of months ago and bought an Ipad 16gb wifi but with no 3G.
At christmas they were also bought one and are now selling the one from Orlando. It has only been out of the box a couple of times and is as new.
They are offering it to me for £340 including an ipad case that I have checked out as costing £50.
Can you let me know if you think this is a good deal.
Thanks.

If you bought that particular model today in the US, it would cost you $499 or £308 at todays exchange rate so even with the case they are not doing you much of a favour.
If I wanted to offload something like that secondhand, then I would lower the price to make it an attractive deal for a mate.
Also the ipad warranty is not global so you would need to send it back to the US for a free repair0 -
I agree, you shouldnt be paying them quite so much. A new one is only 400 and it would include some UK aftersales service. Also, as soon as the ipad 2 comes out in a month or two the prices will fall even more.0

Not much of a friend asking for £340 for it.
The 16gb ipads brand new were £328 at viking direct 2 months ago!!!0 -
That surprises me. So if I am out of purchase country and my Ipad stops working, the local Apple store won't want to know?
However on the Mac laptops and desktops the warranties are global.
Re: OP I too would wait for iPad 2 to arrive if that is machine you want but MacBook Air, (more expensive) does do a lot more than iPad, just the cost puts people off0 -
£439 now with the vat increase cheapest i have found is £399 for the 16gb and 449 for the 32gb.

... why do you want an ipad? ... is always my question
there are many cheaper alternatives that will allow you to do more (in some cases)0 -
I'd side with drinkcaffeine here, save your money and buy a decent laptop in instead!0
