Car Insurance Help - additional driver convictions

Hi all
Does anyone have any experience with finding cheaper car insurance for convicted drivers? I am the main driver and have 7 years no claims plus no convictions. I want to add an additional driver who has IN10 and BA10 convictions from October 2006. Last year I got this for £550 they are now quoting me £1400 !!! They are saying this is because they have assessed the area I live.
Got other quotes but coming up about £1300. If I take the other driver off I can get it for £378.
Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations (other than not adding the additional driver on.)
Many thanks

Shame it's so far away, the convictions will normally get ignored when they are 5 years old0

I know.
It's weird how I managed to get one for £500 last year and now they are charging £1500. It's a joke. Nothing changed. No claims.0 -
Anyone any suggestions?? Please.0

Unless you can find a different insurance company willing to charge a lesser amount your options are limited. Sometimes insurers change their underwriting criteria which might be the case here.
If all other insurers are quoting a similar amount then perhaps you have been fortunate to have been charged less in the past.0
