when to start switching?

Currently on EDF online version 5. From 31.03.11 goes to standard (about £500 a year more). There is cancellation charge before then.

When do i switch? Now or wait a bit? Can i stay on this tarrif till the switch happens?

I am on the same as you.They advised me to do it about a week before(i am going to version 8).
However the version 8 can be withdrawn at any time so i may do it very soon.

They will not penalise you for changing tariffs by the way.

You mean the new tariff?

Yes,it is a 12month contract again as version 5

Can anyone tell me when i should start a switch to another supplier - i want it to be soon enough so im not paying too much on their standard tarriff but not too early so i get hit with the exit charge?

I am in the same boat with my contract ending 31/3. I think it can take up to 6 weeks but can be done in 4! Also I would sugest using a cashback site when you switch.
