Aol 9.6

Just got a pop up from AOL to install AOL 9.6 Should I install this and will it affect my current AOL settings/favourites/wireless connection etc.?

    I've recently upgraded a couple of friends to AOL9.6 and it seems to be a lot more stable, particularly on Windows 7. It seems to pick up all existing settings during the install (it asks which version you want to get your settings from if you have more then one existing copy on the machine).

    I take it aol 9 is a browser, you can use firefox as an alternative, your not tied tdown to aol 9

    OK,I now have AOL 9.6,so how do I turn off the "welcome to AOL" and the "youve got mail" audible messages when I log on.

    i think part of the problem is people arent given a choice of the different browsers available

    Sadly when they were they came on here and say I got this pop-up message saying you have a choice of browser or do you want to stick with IE. So folks who use AOL version of IE think I'm with AOL so I have to use it:(

    Edit: just to show I am not biased the same goes with BT Yahoo.

    Uninstall it and use a proper browser such as Firefox or Chrome.
    You do not need AOL proprietary software to do anything on your PC that cannot be done better by other free software.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
