Hi i got my baby the Babys r us own brand push chair , this was for my car so not getting used all the time, i got it 26/4/10.
The problem is the front wheels keep jamming an i have to tip the pushchair on to the back wheels to get it movin again, ive rang up today to see if i can return and they told me i cant as they only guarentee for 6mths are they right in doing this ? thank you xxxx

  • It really depends on how expensive the pushchair was, and what has caused the fault.

    If it was a budget model and the problem is just due to something wearing out through normal use, then I don't think that the retailer has too much of a legal obligation to do anything.
    However, if it was a top of the range, fairly expensive item, then I would have expected it to have lasted longer than 2 years, especially if it has only had a little bit of use.

    You have up to 6 years to initiate a claim under the SOGA, but after this length of time you will need an independent report stating that the problem was due to a manufacturing fault, and even if this claim is successful, you will only get back a percentage of the price you paid, or a reduction in the repair costs.

    If it's just the wheels jamming, it sound like something that a reasonable DIY person could have a look at as it may just need greasing, or the brakes adjusting.

  • In which case, you should go back to the store and inform the person who told you that " they only guarentee for 6mths " that they don't even know their own policy.

    9: FAULTY ITEMS
    9.1 Items faulty at the point of sale:

    Any item that was faulty at the point of sale may be returned for free repair, replacement or refund, provided you have the original receipt or alternative proof of purchase and the faulty item is returned complete with all components.

    For items to be returned more than six months after the time of purchase the same above applies but in addition, evidence of fault at the time of sale will be required.

    Please note that you will not be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund in respect of fair wear and tear. Please return the original and complete packaging.

    9.2 Faults developed within the warranty period:

    Most items sold by Toys "R" Us Direct come with a 12 month manufacturer’s warranty. Wear and tear is not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.

    Hi thanks for yor replys, it wasnt a cheap pushchair i paid £79.99 ideal for car not used alot, i cant seem to solve the problem as the front wheels just stop moving nothin is jamming them i just dont no what could be causeing it thank you for yor replys x

    Thank you shaun i shall be ringing them back 2moro, it didnt seem like she knew what she was taking about but did go an ask another collegue after i questioned her, she asked if i had leaflet id got with pushchair , to which i havent she told me it said it on that i only had 6mth, but shall be ringing back and reading what youve just pointed out for me thank you so much.
    I got it offline so ive asked for reciept to be sent but u have my email with order number can i give that in instore rather than wait for receipt x

    Thank you for yor advice , i rang the local store today explained the siuation, and looking on the website it seems its a common fault as in the reviews for the pushchair four people were complaing with the same problem.
    The lady rang me back after calling head office it seems the has been a few with this problem didnt say how many bit i had to go back the store they would try the trouble shoting hints(wd40) lol
    This didnt work , so im now waiting for new wheels, i just hope this resolves it just got to wait 14 days to see i will keep you updated.
