Low GI the OS way

ellas9602 as someone who has to follow Gi/GL (Greens and very little Orange and no Reds!) and low carb for health Reasons i should tell you that Pasta is low GI, but very high GL, although wholewheat is better for you... it's not great to eat pasta.
Also it's recommended that you limit bread to 2 slices a day too
I have Rye Bread (not Ryvita... yuk!) for Breakfast with pate (during the week), Low Gi/GL Soup and 1 slice of HM stoneground wholemeal Bread for lunch (during the week). Saturdays I have Oatcakes and Cheese for Breakfast, and feta, mushroom and onion scrambled eggs for lunch. Sundays I have bacon, eggs and tomatoes for breakfast and soup for lunch.
I also cut all pasta/rice portions to 35g a serving and make up with Broccoli (but remember I have to be VERY strict for health reasons, which means low carb at the same time)
I never have rice or pasta two days running for this same reason... and try to limit it to twice a week!
Also make sure your meals should be 50% veg, 25% protein, 25% carbs
For some ideas I can give you this weeks menu:
Butternut Squash Soup (Green) with HM Stoneground Wholemeal Rolls (Green)
Mititei (Romanian Meatballs) (Green) and Broccoli Cheese (Green if you use stoneground wholemeal flour)
HM Chicken Korma Curry (Green) with 1/2 Portion of Wholegrain Brown Basmati Rice and Broccoli
Herrings in Tomato Sauce with Onions of 1 Slice of Granary Bread
I recommend this book >> Collins Gem GI
I am always coming up with ways to low GI/GL my meals to fit in with the family... so ask if you need help!We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like.
