Reclaiming Bank Charges - Working Lunch

  • There is a case to be made for people who banks and other financial institutions have, frankly, made their lives hell when chasing down a debt. The way they go about it is just nasty and they should be made to pay for it. I don't think it's greed at all.

I say take them for every penny you can get out of them because they would do it to you without a second thought.

There just isn't any moral high ground to be had here.

It's not about taking the moral high road Rich.
For the banks (and 'greedy' lawyers) it is emotionless - just the way business (and court dealings) should be!

Their intention is not to make people's life hell it is to make money.
Up until now they were making A LOT of money from penalty charges.
However, now people are saying no!
The banks have analysed the situation and decided that the best they can do for their business is to pay.

Abbey fought this case because they were absolutely sure that they would win. If the woman had taken the emotion out of it she would have seeked proper advice, and they would told her to drop it.

I could have accepted if the woman in question was claiming for some other financial hardship that she faced because of the charges. But 'distress' - how does a court put a value on that for a start???

Feel free to claim for proven losses, but if you get greedy then you are just leaving yourself wide open for the other side to move in for the kill.
  • I realise that, aquapanther (I LOVE that name, btw :D ) but people have committed suicide over being chased by debt collectors. Some of the tactics used by banks and dca's are unscrupulous at best. And they should be called to account for it.
  • (pushed post button too soon :D)

and the best way to punish large multinational corporations is by litigation. A verbal or written apology is meaningless from a bank.
