Should I sign off JSA before I start my job on Monday?

I have just been given a job through the Future Jobs Fund (FJF) and am due to start Monday. I was just wondering when I should inform the job centre that I start. And because I have been signing on for more than 6 months I believe I am entitled to a job grant of £100...
Also my future employer has called me up several times this week asking me if I still sign on and at which job centre, as they obviously need this info to get the government funded money for this scheme. I just don't know when I should sign off to ensure my employer and myself get what we are entitled to.
And don't I need to get a p45 from the job centre to give to my employer? Too many questions....

Thanks for any help guys.

Sign off after the first completed days work. Things have been known to be cancelled at the eleventh hour.

Ok cheers for that. Will I still get the Job grant? It says on their website I have to tell the job centre within 21 days of starting work, so that does mean within 21 days after starting right? Also can you elaborate on your post about things being cancelled (do you mean the job?). I am a bit worried about messing this up for some reason....
  • I believe she meant the job may fall through so start and then sign off. You are paid fortnightly in arrears so you can contact the job centre once you have started. You will get the £100 job grant if your 6 month plus but you could also ask for help if you need it with travel costs etc through the adviser discretionary fund. You need to apply before you start work if you do need that kind of help because I guess you will be working a week or a month in hand. Ring up and book to see your personal adviser before Monday and they will make sure you get sorted. Once signed off you will be issued with your P45 through the post.
They should also give you their into work team number to contact who again will sign you off by phone and do a benefit check for you.
Well done on getting the job and lets hope it lasts more than the 6 months. I know a lot of 18/24's that got kept on because they did such a great job
