I have some 5.1 speakers and on one of the speakers there is a plug that will fit that fitting in the back of my tv, but is that what is for.

RS232 is a serial port. It's mainly used to update the firmware or for engineers to run tests.0

1 is an RS232 serial port for remote PC control.
2 is VGA port for a PC and audio.
