And I certainly won't be answering anymore phone calls from them..
If they phone you again, just say "please don't phone me again, anything you want to say, please do so in writing", then put the phone to one side ( don't hang up, let them listen to your tv for a while), and go about your business.
Check the phone after 20 minutes, and then replace the handset, repeat every time they phone.====0 -

Hi
Westcot's contacted us and asked us to post this on its behalf. Please remember MoneySavingExpert.com doesn't endorse anything a company may say on the forum.
"Dear Natty68
I am the director at Wescot with responsibility for compliance and would like the opportunity to investigate the call you had with one of Wescot's employees. As we record calls, I will be able to listen to the call you refer to and then take whatever action is required. I will also make sure that your account is passed to an individual to deal with as we have a specialist team who manage accounts for customers with mental health problems. In order for me to do this I will need information from you. If you could write to me at the following address: Legal and Compliance Director, Wescot Credit Services Limited, The Mash, Jarratt Street, Hull HU1 3HB I will make sure this is dealt with. Alternatively, you can email contactus@wescot.co.uk but please mark the email for the attention of the Legal and Compliance Director. In both cases, please explain that I have asked you to get in touch with me and provide your Wescot reference number and the date of the telephone call.
Thank you. "Could you do with a Money Makeover?

I think it is a good idea to put this story in a letter (not e-mail) with reference details, send it registered and keep a copy. Send it to Sara de Tute at the address given and request her final response on this issue within 8 weeks, as you will be considering a formal complaint to OFT, FOS and CSA (of which she is vice president). In this instance you are looking for an apology and compensation for the distress caused by the actions of their representative, which were contrary to OFT Debt Collection Guidance.
The company name is Wescot (just one t)0 -

I feel for you as I have been wrangling with Wescot for a couple of months now. I too am on benefits (with depression) and had made arrangements with a couple of creditors to repay my debts at a minimal level until I was working again.
I received letters from Wescot at my new address saying they were trying to contact Miss X (i.e. me). There was no indication of what the debt was they were allegedly chasing. I had a few email conversations with them and they kept asking for my personal details in order to confirm who I was. I informed them many times that I was not going to give my sensitive information without knowing why. This led to stalemate as they said they couldn't give out account information and I said I wasn't giving out my personal details!
I used a template letter from Debtline to request the CCA etc and heard nothing from them for weeks until today when a red demand letter showed up - addressed to me and with my LloydsTSB account details in it! Tomorrow I'll have to waste lots of money on the phone to Lloyds (where my repayments are up to date) and Wescot trying to sort this out and no doubt getting anxious, stressed and upset. I'll also be reporting Wescot for breach of data protection. They are complete morons and the sooner I'm apart from them the better!
Good luck with your case Natty0 -
I think this is a good opportunity to tell people, as with your TV you can switch it off if a programme upsets or offends you , and with your phone you can hang up when you want to you are in control of this whole situation do not allow yourself to be bullied , threatened, intimidated , or coerced in to something you do not wish to do. Clearly from what I read on these forum some people just have to answer/speak with these people probably in the hope they will be reasonable some are it seems though most are not, if you belong to this group of people it is probably best to change you phone number this will cut down all phone calls and help you regain some control of the situation , at the end of the day to converse my phone is a bad idea as you have no proof of anything said .0

Funnily enough, I just got off the phone with Wescot!
I spoke to someone a couple of weeks ago regarding a debt I have with them and the lady was extremely patronising and rude.
She would basically shout over me in a very rude manner & didnt seem to really care about my matter at all.
I have just got off the phone to a lady called Hena at the company and she was the total opposite! Very understanding and patient.
I suggest maybe calling back and asking to speak to her and also put in a formal complaint as this person at Westcot sounds very unprofessional and sounds like they are in the wrong career!!
Hope this helps:o x0
