Bulk buying wine

Hi guys, anyone know where I can get a half decent red and white wine for our wedding? We would need arounf 60 bottles - 30 red and 30 white, possible 20 rose, 20 red and 20 white.
Thought about going to tesco and get the 3 bottles for £10 or something along those lines.
Would prefer to pay less than £4 per bottle as there is a £9 corkage fee - but the cheapest bottle at the venue is £17, and I would have thought we could get better wine for less if we bought out own.

Go to Tesco. They have good deals and they are happy to refund any excess you don't open. We have returned several bottles after parties through the years and there has never been a problem returning them.
Or Sainsburys. They're currently doing 25% off when you buy 6 bottles and also allow you to return unused items within 28 days of purchase.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

You could also try M&S. They have 25% off when you buy 6 or more bottles of wine, and you can use it in conjunction with any other wine offers it has on.0

We used Sainsburys last year when they had their 25% off when you buy 6 bottles offer on.
We bought some decent wine that was half price from £9.99 to £4.99 so got some nice wine at a good price (Think it was Mcguigans (sp) ) The hotel we used were charging £16 a bottle for their own lable wine. At least you can try before you buy with supermarket wine.
Plus you get Nectar points as well! Not sure if Tesco and M&S have the same offer on at the mo?!0 -
If your venue is charging corkage that suggests there is a bar there already? If you really wanted to cut costs, then you could just go for fizzy wine for the toast (which is what we are doing!) Still have to pay the corkage fee but it dramatically reduces the amount you have to buy, and let your guests know in advance there is a bar and they won't be surprised on the day.0

The three for £10 sounds like a good idea, as long as you like them. I'm on a budget too, so very much in favour of good wine at cheap prices! Ours were in cases from tesco online when they had a 50% off offer on cases of 6 or 12 bottles. Percentage-wise, we got 30% rose 40% white and 30% red. I initially catered for 130 but we're now down to 110. The 'posh' wines that I wouldn't normally buy worked out on average £4.27 per bottle, individually at least £8 per bottle so worth a searchdon't let the b*stards get you down or you might have to live in a bin - <<< this could be you!0

Try Majestic Wines or Oddbins or if you manage do a quick run across to France - Eurotunnel is about £60 day return and you can get excellent wine still for a lot less than in the UK.0

Not sure how much is left in shops now...but this might be worth considering if you live near a decent sized co-op...
They are selling off lots of surplus wines, yesterday my local large one still had a lot of stock on offer including
Whites for £3 per bottle....several varieties...
LOTS of red and white at £4 a bottle and Jaume SERRA CAVA at £4 per bottle.
Champagne...assorted bottles all £9 eachfrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -
Depends what you mean by half decent...
For us we're having this red wine from Tesco, it's about £3 a bottle or 2 for £5 at the moment from Tesco grocery site.
The reason we picked that wine is because it is very easy drinking (not strong bodied at all, think alcoholic Ribena and you'll be on the right track) and we have fond memories of drinking it on our camping trip last year...
You can buy a bottle and try before you buy tons of it obviously, and I'm sure there will be some special money off and/or free delivery codes available from another thread.
Just my two pence:grinheart It's Mrs Coupon now - saving and comping my way to a brighter future :grinheart0 -
Try your local Aldi..they do some very nice red (Toro Loco is very good) for around 3.80.
My plan is to start buying wines (x6) with my monthly shop for the next few years until we have enough. White and Rose wont keep, but red should0 -
We went to France for the weekend (and had a nice cheap holiday as well) and bought 30 bottles of fizz, 60 bottles of very good red Cote Du Rhone and 40 bottles of a good white for £250! We still need a few more bottles of white but we will get those locally.
This works out at around 60p a bottle.
Whilst the era of duty free wine shopping in France is over, the quality and cost of wine in the general supermarkets are so much better than the UK.
If you can spare the £60 return for the Eurotunnel head to the nearest couple of Carrefours and you'll be fine.0
