  • We get my daughters bread, pasta, cake mix and pizza bases on perscription which helps out a lot. My daughter has coeliac disease and a dairy allergy.

It might be worth you asking to be refered to a dietician, ours is really good and has given me loads of information on how to save money while still keeping her diet varied and fun. We buy tesco own brand cereals, she can have cornflakes, frosties, rice crispes, crunchy nut cornflakes but only tesco own branded ones as sainsbury's have got wheat in them. She uses a soya spread instead of butter and long life soya milk which is so much cheaper than fresh.

We make her biscuts and cakes, there are some really good receipes on the internet and add cocoa powder or dark chocolate chips to cakes to make them fun.

With reguards to the dairy part tesco own brand crisps the meaty range, you can eat the ready salted, chicken and bacon crisps, my daughter hogs those and feeds her dad the beef ones as these have milk in. Im sure there are loads of other ideas for saving money its a case of getting yourself into a routine and being prepared. I find if I want to feed my daughter healthy and quickly (some nights its a very quick tea between ballet, swimming etc) then I need to plan her meals in advance.

Its also worth while if you have coeliac joining your local support group as they often have food fairs. My daughter is very chatty, has blonde hair and big blue eyes and will natter to everybody and try any food. She ended up with about 10 carrier bags of food at the last one we went to.

Also if you are able to get any of your food on perscription you can contact the companies before and ask for samples to see if you like them.
