Installing MS Office on two machines (software for students)

I'm looking to buy Office 2007 under the MS software for students scheme. I'm a bit confused about the way it works...

The FAQ on the company's website says "You may install Microsoft software install on one personal computer and also install an additional copy of the Software on a second, portable device for the exclusive use of the primary user of the first copy of the Software.
E.g. install a copy on a Desktop and a copy on a Laptop for the exclusive use of the primary user, but not on two desktops or on two laptops.".

My question is how can they tell what type of machine the software is being installed on?

If anyone's used this scheme to get hold of Office and has put it on two computers, I would be grateful for info on how the downloading and installation actually works.

Cheers.

    That's what I thought.

I would go for 2010 as it's actually about £10 cheaper...unfortunately my university doesn't support it so the desktop in my office has 2007. As I'll be using it for my thesis - so lots of formatting of long Word documents, etc. - I think it'd be better to have 2007 on everything so I'm not editing documents in different versions depending on which machine I'm using. Until recently I was using Office 2003 in the office, Open Office at home and MS Works on my netbook - nightmare!
