Downloading at night on a timer?

Hi - sorry am a deluxe tech pleb but here goes:

Would like to get Plusnet's cheapest broadband which allows 10GB download per month but is free at night. Is there a way to set my computer up to download stuff off bbciplayer/ITVplayer before going to sleep and more than one thing if necessary - so that it downloads during the free time (12-7am I think). Am on a med that makes me sleep a lot and go to sleep before 12 most nights.

Thanks a lot. Urk

    Hi,

I'm on the same Plusnet service, the free download time is 12-8am.

I use it for BBCi, though I'm usually up 5.30/6am, so download then.

Don't think you can download ITV programmes, unless it changed recently.

Don't think you can set a timer for downloads, but I'd be interested if someone knows differently.

There's plenty of software that you can use to schedule downloads but not for iPlayer and the like.

To schedule iplayer downloads, start the download(s) on the web site and pause them in iplayer desktop. Then exit iplayer (ensure you exit from the player completely ie from the status bar) Then set up a schedule to start iplayer at say 00:01 and it should then start up and resume the download. If you do not exit fully it stays [STRIKE]resumed[/STRIKE]paused.

Can you work out the url of the iplayer show? e.g. http://electradl.iplayer.bbc.co.uk/windowsmedia/Silk_Episode_1_b00yzj10_p00f3gmd.wmv is for last night's Silk (don't know how constant the url is though)
