Sounds like its a full auth card. Can't be used in offline machines.
Ask them to replace it with a "Servicecard" with Cheque Guarantee - this card is an offline card, which can then be used at the Pay @ Pump and ON trains unlike your current cardCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

really  thats start of my card:mad:
but it works fine at selfservice train ticket machines

Yes this is because the selvservice machines call the bank by modem and check to see if you have enough in the bank before authorising the purchase.
Pay at pump machines dont - it's just done on trust - but banks don't allow certain cards to be used by machines that don't check if you have sufficient funds in the account first.
So a highline card (cheque guarantee) is the solution as the bank DO allow this to be used by machines that don't authorise there and then, like Pay @ Pump etc.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Don't ask for a 'Servicecard' though as this is Natwest terminology and is likely to result in a bemused response.
The system will decide whether a Highline card is available anyway and chances are if you don't have one, it doesn't.0 -
