My Female Kitten being sprayed today - advice

Hi All,

My 7 month old ktiten is being sprayed today

i have a older cat who is 1 year 6 months who's been done the older cat was so ill when she was born to when she was 5 months then sprayed at 7 months and she was such a strong cat that i didn't have to worry when i got her done

but i'm really worry about my 7 month old ktiten she's never been ill and quite a small cat should i be worried? my flat mate is taking her to the vets at 9.

also what should I do when she comes back keep the 2 cats seperate? keep the kitten in room on her own? also i have a cold(really bad one) is their a risk I will pass this on to her?

My other cat was back to normal within 6 hours of the operation but i have a feeling that my little kitten won't?

Any advice would be great

thank you in advance
to be happy

I think you mean that your kitten is being spayed, ie neutered. I wouldn't worry about her, it's a very routine procedure these days, just keep her quiet for a few days, follow the instructions given by the vet for aftercare, and all will be fine.

You won't pass your cold to her, very few illnesses pass between humans and cats, particularly the common cold/flu type ones.
  • Keep an eye on her and give her some love. She'll be a bit groggy I expect and not up for playing. My kitty wanted to curl up on me like she did before but it meant I could see her scar which made me feel a bit woozy but I'm a bit of a wimp!

The vet will tell you if she needs anything specific.
  • vets said the operation went well but they are not yet sure if i can take her home tonight or not i did not have this with my last cat and they wouldn't give me reason why..... any ideas?

Maybe the cat hasn't recovered from the anaesthetic as quickly as your other cat/as quickly as they expected, she may well be a bit too drowsy yet.
Different cats handle the anaesthetic differently, like people I guess.
I hope you can take her home tomorrow, and hope she recovers quickly!
  • Try not to worry, it might be that they did the operation fairly late. A good vet will not allow an animal home until it has come round fully from the anaesthetic.

We have taken many cats in for neutering, some recover a lot quicker than others.

Just look forward to tomorrow when she will be home with you

My 4 were spayed/neutered few days ago.

2 girls and 2 boys - boys no problem at all, never needed a check up even.

Girls had their sides shaven so looked odd when I picked them up, fur is growing back slowly now but one of them had some blood on the stitch today so may need to take her for a check up. It is 14 days since the op today, they had dissolving stitches - need to look at the stitch maybe one did not disolve and is causing a problem. Waiting for her to come to me to see it though as if I catch her she won't like it. Fione, the silver one it is and she is very non cuddly individual auless SHE asks for it.

In any case, they were all running around as soon as I brought them back from the vets, the girls took their collars off at night, no problems at all - just need to see that stitch now....

Sure your kitty will be ok :D

    Fionaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa? Where are you?????

Do not laugh - "sprayed" is still better that "spaded" ;)

LOL true, but I have to admit my first thought was 'I wonder what she's being sprayed with!!'

Yeah but still "sprayed" seems harmless enough... When I see posts with people wanted their cats "spaded" I always worry about a spade and a shallow grave...hmmmmm

    ;)

OP - hope your kitty is ok?
I took Fiona to the vets today and was told she is fine, despite somehow managing to damage the side with a stich on it...
