travel Insurance

Hi,
Hope someone out there can give me some advice please.
My father-in-law was diagnosed with alzheimers disease in November
of 2010, we have a holiday booked for June 2011 and I have Annual Insurance from the post office.
Have rung them to ask if we will be covered on our insurance if the worst should happen and they have said no.
Father-in-law is ok, its an ongoing disease and he could be with us for years yet, all being well.
Would like to know if any one knows of any insurance companies that would cover this situation.
Sorry if I have gone on to much, my first time posting.

When did you take out the cover with the P.O and when did you book the holiday
  • Hi.
Took out Annual travel insurance 2/8/10 with Post Office.
Booked to go this year on 2/2/2011.

They can do this, if you had booked the holiday before the diagnosis they would have had to cover or pay your cancellation costs.

The chances of a problem with your fathers health are fairly low.

If you need cover, have a look at the alzheimers society website as they will probably have a sympathetic insurer
  • Many thanks for you quick response, will try the alzheimers website
    tomorrow.

Try Direct Travel or Ageas, through a broker, as they both state that they provide cover as long as there is no known reason you may cancel.
