    hi,

just an update and dont know where to go from here.

got call from caversham finance this morning, he said i have mistaken his kindness for ignorance as i havent rang him back about collecting the cooker, told me i hadnot paid more than a third then after arguing he said ok you have paid over a third (which i already knew) after a while i told him there was nothing he could do with out a court order and he siad well i will get one goodbye.
he spoke to me like a piece of c..p and his shoe!!!!! can they do this??? i have wrote a letter to brighthouse which i have here and will post today, but really dont know where i stand, ive paid over a thrid so know they cant just take it back.

and how long will it take to get a court order or does it just go to court then the courts deal with it like receiving the payments etc???
    thanks

get yourself onto freecycle or freegle, or contact one of the furniture recycling network organisations. You might need a referral for the latter, but check.

Once you have a decent second hand replacement, hand back the brighthouse one and vow never to go near them or any other HP provider again. You cannot afford them.

Set up an account with you local credit union and over time, you will be able to afford to replace stuff.

So Caversham wants a second hand cooker back instead of their money?? They also want to spend money on a court order & still only get paid what you have offered them in the first place?? Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, is he?

What is in the letter to Brighthouse?

    hi,

thanks for the quick reply, all the lette states is that i am willing to make payments over the next 21 weeks to pay the cooker off minus the insurances that they offer, as they said my account is closed now so i thought i might just need to pay the outstanding £600 and not need to pay the insurances that they say you must have before they can have you as a customer,

Sounds like a typical bailiffs man. Thick neck and little between the ears.
If I had a spare cooker I would give it to you. I hope you get sorted out soon so you can tell them where to get off.

Hope all works out Kirsty..Handyman's advice is spot on and very sound.

I do wonder how these bailiffs sleep at night...but they probably do....just doing their duty....we have we heard that before.

    thanks for all replies,

does anyone know what will happen next? will they accept my payment or will they get a court order? and if so how long will that take and is a court order the same as a ccj????

    thanks

I expect they will accept your payment - they might not actually say that they will accept it but make sure you keep paying and you might not hear from them further with regards to court or repossesion.

They might try to get a court order to reposses but it would hardly be worth it to them, so its unlikely (though not impossible) that thay would happen.

Agree with Tixy....."scare tactics"..and I doubt they would get a court order..or they would be getting every week for others in similar situation.

Its not a 1 day task to do..even if they did..so go with advice given by all.

Don't let them in...and if they bully you badly call police..as is not acceptable
