try their German Ham too! four gorgeous big slices and has a lovely deli type taste! and now I wont buy Parmegiano Reggiano cheese anywhere else....the taste is superb! just like I remember from Italy! and cheap as chips too!

Did you know that Aldi run a fresh meat offer alongside the Super 6 fruit & veg offers? Currently it's British pork minute steaks at £1.99 instead of £2.49 (400g pack) and British beef meatballs for £1.29 instead of £1.69 (325 g pack) This offer runs until 26th Feb.

My friend's husband works in monitoring food quality & his jobs requires him to inspect the processing/packaging plants around the UK. He said M & S & Aldi use the SAME company for their meat & frozen meat products..

Aldi and lidl are the best by far for meat!! The other supermarket chains RELABEL and REPACKAGE meat. Google 'Whistleblowers' documentary for the full expose. I cannot recall how many times I have returned meat not fit for use on the useby date. Chicken and mince being the worst contenders. This NEVER happens in lidl and aldi!!!

I remember watching this programme several years ago when it was first broadcast; quite an eye-opener.
Must admit, I'd forgotten about it though, so it was good to watch it all again. Thanks for the link:)


I don't shop in supermarkets', so all of our meat comes from the local butcher. However, I suspect none of us really know whether strict hygeine / regulations are adhered to 100% of the time; no matter where we buy it from.
