Electric bill for 1 bed/studios please help
Hi, I've just taken on a lease for a top floor studio that I will be billed for electric and water.
I budgeted £60 per month for electric AND gas and a further £20 per month for water.
Researching forums people seem to suggest Electric for a 1 bedroom flat/studio shouldn't be more than £20 a month.
Could anyone who has experience of this please tell me what they budgeted/paid and recommend providers.
Many thanks in advance!

If you have no heating or cooking with electric then, yes, a single person should get away with around £20 per month for electricity. Main things that would trigger more would be long electric showers or an electric oven or a dodgy fridge/freezer. £35 to £55 for gas and £15 to £25 for electricity seems a fair enough starting point. There is plenty of scope for paying a lot less for the gas (easily under £10 per month when heating is not used.)
As to providers it depends on your region - have a look on the comparison sites. Start with 15,000 kWh gas and 2,500 kWh electricity per annum
Once you have started using the flat and worked out how much free heat you are gaining from your downstairs neighbours and how much heat is disappearing from the attic you may be able to refine your initial estimate and find another tariff for a lower consumption. But you have to take a punt first before you find what your piece of string actually measures.0
