Hasting essential warning

Hello All,

I would just like to make everyone aware of Hastings direct windscreen excess.

I called them to buy car insurance and I did ask if this was covered they said yes certainly what they didn't tell me was the excess was £295.00:mad:

Two months later a crack in my windscreen and when I called they advised me of this and you will also lose your no claims.

Needless to say I got an independant repair but still at a cost of £170.00:eek:

When it happened I looked through there document's and it's not made clear by any means and When I called their repair no was told it would be £65, I couldn't do it then which is why I got the bad news when I called back.

So just wanted to make everyone aware!!! there shocking!!!!

With the "essentials" policy that you have, the lower premium reflects the reduced cover you get - including the higher glass excess (and glass claims affecting NCD)
  • I would have to disagree, The lower premium was £416.12 for a woman driver who is 28 years old.

I did have similar quotes but chose Hasting's after speaking to them on the phone.

The point of my post was not to debate whether there value for money but to let everyone know about the appauling excess for windscreen excess and also about the level of customer services.

    Thanks

The problem you have (but seemingly missed it when you chose to take the essentials policy) is there is no special windscreen cover on your policy. (Which is cheaper than a normal hastings comp. policy).

So if you make a claim your chosen excess applies and it is considered like any other claim as far as NCD goes.

This would not have happened to you if you had taken out a hastings direct comprehensive policy!

It is clearly pointed out on their website:
    Do I have windscreen cover?

If you have a Hastings Essentials policy you can still claim but your accidental damage excess will be applicable and will affect your No Claims Discount entitlement.
