    Possibly not.

Going by their Landline tariff page here they clearly state that linerental is with them which could possibly mean using 18185 may not be possible as TalkTalk have a habit of blocking access to Call18185, etc.

    An alternative is Primus Saver.

Their are people on TT tariffs who get FREE evening and weekend calls, and their line rental is still with BT.

That is true, many of whom are old-standing TT customers before TT introduced their linerental.

For new customers however, I believe it will be hard to get the offer of free evening & weekend without having to have your linerental with them.

They are obviously pushing their linerental so they can control near enough who you make your calls from (ie mostly them).

My line rental is with BT.I have been using Talk Talk for calls with free evening and weekend calls for 2 years. It was an offer for a year when one of my sons bought a mobile then they gave me another year .This is due to end at the end of Dec. but if it is not offered again I will just go back to BT as they have offered free evening and weekend calls for a year.

If you have to move you would be better off going to Primus Saver 2 for completely FREE Evening and Weekend calls,no min term ,as BT require you to sign a 18 month contract to get Free Evening and Weekend calls for 12 months. So they would actually cost 6 months x 3.95 = £23.70 .

Thanks, I'll wait and see what happen with Talk Talk next month .but I have added the primus site to my favourites and as you say it would be better to go with them for calls than BT.

  • I was going to say that I thought the BT offer meant 18 months.

I would phone TalkTalk and see if they offer you anything provided you want to stay with them. I stayed with TalkTalk because of the free calls to other TalkTalk users but its now only free calls to 01/02 number over the w/end. This is fine though as I just use 18185/1899 for all calls through the week with no problem of how long the call is.

Certainly when phoning TalkTalk there has been no pressure from them to move my line rental and in fact they gave me £5 credit to keep my calls and this lasted more than six months :)

Yes Edinburghlass, I found it great to be able to ring my friends anytime ,but all but one has left Talk Talk to go back to BT, so I now have to wait until off peak before calling them.
But my 17yr old son calls his friends a lot and as long as its off peak I don't have to shout get off the phone.
My 20yr old uses his mobile and home phone when its free.
Last year he was living in halls at uni and we emailed or talked on msn and text because I am still using the free virgin sims loaded with £5 in my mobile LAST ONE though.
Thanks for the advice and I will see if I get any word fromTalk Talk next month when the year is up.
I will post and let you all know.
