Leak under bathroom sink (pic)

The fittings under my NEW bathroom vanity unit are leaking in two different places (see pic).

My plumber tried to fix the leaks by changing the seals and adding silicon, he did this 4 times (!!) over several days - it didn't work, it's still leaking :(

He blames the parts, I asked him to change them but he said they are not standard ones so he can't help, is this true? I have a feeling he can't be bothered.

Time to get a new plumber?

UPDATE! I replaced the bottle trap with the McAlpine A10A that some of you recommended and it worked a treat! Thanks everyone :)

Get a new plumber, if he cant be bothered to fix the leak get rid!

They are pretty standard traps from a decent plumbing stockist if its the trap itself. Google McAlpine AA10 or A10A and that is the trap you should fit.

Adjustable bottle trap....Hardly a rare non standard part

Looks like a cheap trap, Swap it for a Mcalpine trap and you will have no probs

Get the part swapped ASAP as any water on bathroom furniture will swell the MDF/Chipboard

I bet the rubber seal is the wrong way around & there is a plastic washer on the connector to the sink waste

Plumber is an idiot. Fairly standard bottle trap! I hope he hasn't attempted anything more taxing like changing a washer in a tap!

  • Silicone sealant shouldn't be going anywhere near a waste fitting, and non-standard part? My ar5e!

It's most likely the thread's knackered or the pipework is misaligned causing strain and uneven pressure on the seals.
  • Faulty tap leaking through the joint? and not sealed at the sink properly can cause this, resulting in water running down the back of the basin and ending up at the trap. Chuck some water over the tap to test.
