Hi - Anyone know were I can get a sky+ box repaired or replaced?, or someone who can fix or replace it - Don't know if I have to go through Sky themselves for this, any ideas?

Ring up sky.
If the box is within warranty they will send a man round to swap it for a new/ refurbished one free of charge.
if it's not in warranty they will tell you its £65 for the same deal. Tell them you can't afford that, and that you'd therefore like to cancel your subscription as the box is no longer working. they will then offer to send a man round to swap the box free of charge.
Guaranteed, dont be afraid just do it. Sky dont like losing customers.0 -

It's true, hold out and you'll get it free. I'm on my 4th 3 months movies for £5 within the past 18 months0 -
Not strictly true at all.When I was working for Sky the amount of customers who paid for their service calls outweighed those who didn't.Sky take into account a few factors;
How much you spend per month (package size)
Previous service calls
Any previous service calls that were free/discounted0 -

AS others have said just threaten to cancel, I have had 2 new free boxes over the years having had to pay £60 for my first replacement:mad: the service person even stood with his hand out expecting £60 in his hand the first time after I had paid sky:rotfl:
If the worst comes to it they will cancel and you won't have to watch endless repeats or rubbish day after day:rotfl:
I'm moving house soon and won't be moving with Sky:p a freesat or Freeview PVR will do instead and not a penny goes to Murdoch :T:T:TI am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -
Yeah just hold out and you may get it for free. At worst, they'll cut the cost by half to £30, which is what the price of an ebay box would cost anyway...0

what exactly is wrong with your current box?0

My Sky+ box went kaput before Christmas. Engineer cost £32.50 as I refused to pay £65. A mate of mine only just this week has had an engineer come out for free after asking for the phone number for cancellations.
Apparently a software update has wrecked some boxes. If your box has power running through to it but you can't get it from standby - and the standby light is flickering slughtly - then your hard drive is screwed. All a ploy to get us all on to HD I reckon!0 -

Sky boxes, especially those with a hard-disk inside, such as the Sky+ and Sky+ HD boxes can run hot - and they need to breath. From the Sky+ manual:
In order to ensure a free flow of air around your Sky+ box, allow at least 10 cm of space above and on all sides (especially between your Sky+ box and your TV). Do not cover any ventilation slots.
Do not place your Sky+ box in an enclosed cabinet with more than one other piece of audio/video equipment e.g. VCR or DVD0
