Have a Talktalk line......stopped working yesterday (incoming, outgoing, broadband).
Apparently, another company has nicked it, and I may lose my number and have to have a new line installed.
OFCOM are tracing which company have taken it.....anyone any tips as to how to speed up the process?

Unfortunatly there is no way of speeding this process up. The only organisation that can provide you this information is OFCOM. BT Openreach cannot advise any losing companyhothe gaining company is due to BT undertakings. All I can say is sit tight and chase OFCOM everydayHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Often it is simply incompetence, where a typo results in you losing service. What does TT say (as you are their customer). They will have or should have, written to you to confirm your wishes.0

OFCOM have said that "no other company was involved" and that Talktalk (my service provider) instructed Core Communications (their network provider) to stop my line. Talktalk are still denying that they did this.
Even though I have someone OK in the UK at Talktalk to discuss this with (the idiot Indians are still sending daily texts saying that its fixed, reply NO if not), he cant find anyone owning up to stopping the line, and says I need to go out and get a new line installed.
All I want is for someone in Talktalk to take ownership of this problem and resolve it.....they stopped my line, they can sort out a new one IMHO.illegitimi non carborundum0 -

I'd take the heaven-sent opportunity to move on.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
You know, I had remained on 512k broadband for years, since they c0cked it up while trying to upgrade in 2005 or so. I finally decided to upgrade to 2Mb, and moved my line and calls to them......and thats where the problems started.
If they dont touch it, its fine.....it was for years. Unfortunately, there seems to be a high probablility that they will break something thats working while effecting any change.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
TalkTalk must be the worst of all telephone companies. I cancelled my line when living overseas stopping my DD and sending them an email. They replied saying it will be disconnected in 10 days. I was with them over 5 years. When I moved back to the UK I noticed I could still receive calls on that line and tried to contact them again without success. I changed the line to BT after TalkTalk kept cancelling my order with BT. Then I received a bill from TalkTalk for £129. It is quite comical really as they keep sending threatening letters that do not warrant a reply as they cannot do a single thing with their ridiculous threats. They seem to enjoy wasting money.0

When I was working for Sky Broadband it their Tier 2 dept back in 08,Talk Talk cut off hundreds of Sky broadband customers phonelines when they changed their phone service to the fully Talk Talk phone & bband one (can't remember the name, old age...lol) so these Sky customer's were told they had to get their broadband from TT.Considering Sky had only launched their broadband some six months previously, that move by TT caused a lot of problems for the customers concerned. All we could do was to refer them to TT...0

My daughter had exactly the same problems with them, she was originally with Tiscali (against my advice) about six weeks after TT took them over hers was switched off, TT told her it was nothing to do with them, it took nearly three weeks of phone calls before she got her service back.0
