Taxing SORNED Vehicle

We're SORNing my Mum's car at the end of the month. She's due to have a knee replacement in May and she can't drive. It will not be parked anywhere on-road or "to which the public has access," before anyone asks.
It has a valid MOT and will still be insured.
When we need to tax it again, be it two weeks, or two months later, can it be re-taxed online from SORN, or does it have to be done at the PO or Traffic Office with all the paperwork?
It will be stored at my home and it will make life easier if it can be taxed online when we need it.

tax it any way you like
makes no difference its SORN0 -
Taxing it automatically cancels out the SORN. No need to worry about areas "to which the public has access" anyway - that only applies to moving traffic offences.0

as above, you can tax it online which cancels the sorn but i think you have to wait 21 days between surrendering a disc and buying a new one.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

You can tax online if you want to, but IMHO you would have to wait for the new tax disc to arrrive in the post before you could drive it legally. Which seems to me to be a waste of time seeing as you can tax it at the PO instantly.
If you had a tax disc that was about to expire and you taxed online before expiry, you would not have to wait for the tax disc to arrive because you get 5 days grace, where you can drive without a tax disc on display, but AFAIK this would not apply to a taxing online from SORN.
You could also suspend the insurance for those months, though the admin fee charged by the insurer may make that worthless.0 -
