Do you make an effort with your appearance for your partner?

I do try and make an effort sometimes but think when you're living with someone it's extremely hard work to try and do it all the time. I've been with my partner 11 years and I feel comfortable enough with him to know that he's not going to think any less of me for wanting to slob around the house with baggy clothes and messy hair once in a while0

As long as you're not wearing perfume to go to the gym, dress in what you like! My biggest pet hate...
I love my fiancee no matter what she is wearing or how she looks - she is still the most beautiful girl in the world to me. She dresses up when the occasion calls for it but doesn't feel like she needs to do it just to impress me. I don't want her tarted up all the time, I love her how she is naturally rather than behind cosmetics that hide the flaws I fell in love with.Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.

It's not something I really worry about- I know my boyfriend does like it when I dress up to go out, but when I'm slobbing about on a Sunday in my onesie, no make up and scruffy hair he's fine with that too. I'd hate to be one of those women who take off their makeup once their partner is asleep and rise early to put it all on again before he wakes up. You should be comfortable enough with your partner to let him see you au natural- and if he runs away screaming he's clearly not the man for you!
Likewise I have no problem when my boyfriend looks a bit of a scruff- I love him the same however he looks and I still fancy him the same as I did four years ago.
I do think it's important to make an effort some of the time, for yourself as well as for your partner. It's a bit different if you and your partner are going out somewhere nice looking a scruff after all! Whilst it's fun to slob about together at the weekend it's also fun to dress up for a night on the town or a romantic meal somewhere- and on this occasions it probably will help your sex life as you're seeing each other at their sexiest.0 -
Mmmm! Sometimes in a mixed gym, there's a reason us girls want something fragrant wafting in our nostrils!Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.

I've never been one of those girls who's dolled up to the nines at every waking moment, but equally I know that if I've had a shower, got clean hair, put a bit of make-up on, am wearing decent clothes, have a little perfume on and (lately) have nice nails, then I'll feel much better about myself. The fact that my boyfriend says I look pretty when I do that - and equally, when I've got a massive spot and bed hair and am wearing scruffy clothes - is an added bonus.
I still get properly dolled up if we have a big night out, and I know he appreciates that, but the effort of having to be Barbie doll-perfect constantly would wear me out! Life's too short in my view.
I think I probably stopped caring so much about six months in, it was about then that I started letting him see me without make-up etc.
(Oh, and if I'm having a 'house day' and there is no need for make-up and straightened hair and non-schleppy clothes, then I've got no qualms about answering the door or running to the shop like that...)"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
That's the consequence of going into an environment where people are working hard and sweating -

Exactly - and women should do the same, not tart it up with perfume that is stopping other people in there from getting the workout they desire.Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.
