Do you make an effort with your appearance for your partner?

Do you make an effort to look good for your partner at all times? I read an artical at the weekend somewere called 'stop calling him honey and start having sex' which was about the real reasons couples stop having sex as often. Part of the artical said that you should continue to make an effort to look your best all the time and it has made me think a bit. This morning I saw my other half off to work wearing my old primark jarmies that should of been thrown away ages ago, hair unwashed and uncomed, yesterdays mascara encrusted around my eyes and I remebered the artical. I would never answer the door looking like this so why do I let my OH see me like this?
Do you still make an effort for your partner?

No, we've been together for far too long - but I do make the effort for me.
If I catch sight of myself looking a mess then it drags my mood down so I try not to let it happen often.0 -
I don't think anyone can make an effort all the time. But once in a while is nice0

Yes I agree, somtimes its good to just slob around but I was thinking that at the start of every relationship you would never let your partner see you in that condition so at what point in the relationship do people start to care less about what they look like to their partner. Don't get me wrong i'm not a total beast and I do look after myself for example I would never go out with out a bit of make up on, go to the gym regularly, mak an effort to look good for work ect. but I would never of let him see me like that a few years ago, I wouldn't let the postie see me like that. I've been with my OH for 15 yrs now. Maybe I should do it for myself 1st,cc & o/d debts 4/2/11 - 12209.

I slob far too much...I'm comfier in my trackie bottoms and t shirt or baggy jumper. Also (and what I try to use as an excuse) I will often use my hoop or get on my stepper or do pilates at home while watching TV in the evening, therefore will need to be in loose comfy stuff! But often he comments that he'd like to see me less scruffy, and even if it's only jeans and a 'proper' t shirt (as opposed to my tent like Disney ones!) he likes it better. Must admit I do sometimes share that feeling that I'd not be seen by my neighbours looking such a mess and will change even if I'm just popping to the corner shop, but don't do it at home for him.
Mind you if I do then surprise him by dressing REAL nice it makes for a great evening0 -

Exactly, I dress for me. The day I do not want to put on lipstick or perfume, they will be nailing me down in my box! Even if my aim for the day is painting and decorating the house, in my scruffiest clothes, my makeup will be in place and I will smell sweet:)0 -
Does he still make an effort for you? Does he make sure his underwear is clean and decent? Does he suck in the gut, and bring you flowers? I do try to keep up appearances, but it works both ways.
I heard a great story about Vinnie Jones (the hardman/footballer). He went out one evening dressed up for a night out, much to his wife's annoyance. About 20 mins later, there was a knock at the front door, and she opened it to find him on the doorstep with flowers, and he asked her if she would be free for dinner with him that night. That's romance, that is.Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

I'm single, but keep myself looking reasonably nice for me. Nobody else.0

No, I am a right scruff around the house but when I leave the house I do make an effort - he certainly doesn't seem to mind that I don't make an effort when I'm at home.0

I do always make an effort, for me, he's just lucky that he benefits too :rotfl::rotfl:Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Yes, I make an effort but it's for both of us.....he gets the benefit of the La Senza silk nightwear he buys me, and I don't have to pay for it
Seriously, in a past-life relationship I wasn't encouraged to make an effort for my own benefit, where my dressing well & looking good came third after his and the children's presentation and where I was constantly slated for "dressing up for the blokes at work"....now I am in a very happy & balanced relationship where I am complimented and loved no matter what I am wearing.0
