you can make a complaint to your local MP. i Was sent a link from the Gingerbread website that allows one to send a predrafted letter to your local MP. (my MP has already sent me an acknowledment after a few days). Worth doing as MPs take more interest of local resident matters IMHO.£100 admin fee and then 7-12% of what we receive- this was i my local paper. I am gobsmacked.0 -
MSE Wendy,
Any idea when these questions to be put to the Minister? Matt your summary seemed to miss some questions including mine about arrears not owed if clearly a CSA mistake.
PS what sort of biscuits does Maria Miller like?0 -

His posts are purely NRP based.
Maria miller will be a bit busy at the minute (surprise, surprise)

As a former NRP being asked for arrears (I never knew I had and have paid voluntarily before the CSA involved) and a PWC not getting a penny I can see both sides!
From NRP and PWC perspective, CSA/CMEC rules seems unfair - Child Support is a misnoma (sp)0 -
thanks for that. I have e-mailed my MP. It'll be interesting to see what, if any, response is received.0 -

Subtle difference, the current rules do allow the CSA to say Oh Dear, we made a mistake- you the NRP pay the arrears for the 5 years since we, CSA made the mistake. never mind the impact on family finances or dare I say it , the children.
So CSA/CMEC are complying with "the rules" as they stand and i am not! hence I request a change. Hopefully my question stands as I think being precise is everything and paraphrasing/summarising on other peoples behalf is not good. (but I come in peace!)0 -

There is no legal requirement for an NRP to pay arrears if the CSA admits making a mistake.
There is actually no time limit an NRP can ask the assessment is corrected and backdated , and , if the CSA ends up owing the NRP then he can claim interest on the amount owed.
Time limits only apply to appealing against a decision.0 -
NOt true - even if the CSA make a mistake which amounts to arrears owed, the NRP is indeed liable to pay it.0
