Could you put a sign up saying no charity bags by your front door?

Or just put them back outside your door as soon as you get them, they often say on the bags to do this if you have nothing to give
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Even putting up a sign won't necessarily stop this. It's not an offence so there is no one to whom you can complain. But why is this such a problem? Use them as bin bags.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Have a look here : http://www.charitybags.org.uk/index.htm lots of information on these collections and where you could go to find out more.

Looks like if they're collecting for charity they should be licensed with your Local Authority so you could start there and check they are licensed, if they are there's not a lot you can do other than put a sign up to see if that stops them.

Use them as bin bags, we do. Saves a few pennies on black bin liners :p
