Want to contact your friends and relatives in New Zealand please use the International Call Checker here...

It used to be that call18185 was one of the cheapest using a BT line but I see now they are 1.5p per minute with no connection charge. Make sure you check the boxes carefully for which landline you use as some suppliers charge a connection fee.
The Foreign Office help line regarding Christchurch is.
0202 7008 8765
Thoughts are with all those in Christchurch and those with friends/relatives there. Time difference at the moment is 11 hours ahead of UK.

I can vouch for topupnow.co.uk who offer calls to New Zealand landlines for 0p per minute and a 5p connection fee (so that's 5p per call) if you call via their 0808 freephone number. You need to make a top up call for £1.50 which pays for 30 unlimited calls to New Zealand landlines.0

4p connection + 1½p/minute.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Sorry, I didn't read it properly myself! I have free calls with my o2 package to NZ so haven't used 18185 for some time now.0

Another choice http://www.localphone.com/call/new_zealand
"Call New Zealand from just 0.8p with Localphone—no contracts or monthly fees, and no connection or service charges. "0
