Machine Mart Discount Card?

Hi MSE people,
I'm posting this for my dad, he recently got an email from Machine Mart advertising 20% off all Clarke products and 10% off everything else between the 15th to the 27th, my dad did not get an email showing the offer until the 18th at 7:37pm, it just so happens the same day he spent £150+ on goods from machine mart, so I was just wondering if we should be given the discount as we didn't have an email showing there was such a discount until it was too late.

Nvm for some reason thought you meant after he received the email.
What did the email say? That it required a discount code?
As wealdroam suggests, he could cancel and reorder (although if he says this to him they may apply the discount without him having to do this). You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Could it be that him making the purchase triggered them to send the email?
One thing I am sure about is that he bought the things at an agreed price, so there is no obligation on them to refund any difference.
Will they let him take the things back for a refund and let him buy again with a discount?
I don't know, but no harm in asking is there?0 -

I was thinking of getting him to do this, unsure what the things he purchased were but I shall find out to see if he could do this.0 -
"Machine Mart Limited is happy to consider a credit note subject to a handling charge of 10% for a product bought from a Machine Mart store if it is returned in its original condition within 7 days of purchase."
Not worth it by the looks of things0 -
I don't think they have to give you the discount, but I would still call and try to get the discount. Sometimes it's all about negotiating0

Aye, go the customer service route rather than the legal route. You can attract more flies with honey than pooOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

If he bought online, is cancelling within 7 working days of receiving the goods (and the goods are not excluded) and the company is in the UK then it is subject to the DSR's which state the customer is entitled to a full refund (including any delivery charge paid) and must not be subject to a "handling" fee.
They can require you to pay the return postage if you have received the items and if you were given this in a durable form as pre-contractual information.
If he hasnt received the items (although from what you say it sounds like he has) he can cancel, receive a full refund and refuse delivery. They cannot treat this as breach of contract and must give him a full refund within 30 days of receiving his notification to cancel. You keep using that word.
