NPORS Operator Renewal

My OH has received a 'NPORS Operator Renewal' form which says that he can renew his licence by sending a form signed by his current employer.
The thing is he is his current employer - he is self employed. He would like to renew his license without the extra costs of training, but is it possible to do this? or for me to sign as a Director of the company?
