watch folder and move any contents to share

Hi,

I'm about to buy an IP camera just for basic security inside the house but the one I have chosen does everything I want apart from when it comes to video recording - it only records to a locally connected HDD and not to my NAS.

Is anyone aware of any software that will watch a folder and if any files appear in there it automatically moves those files to my NAS or my dropbox folder?

I guess a scheduled task might be a very basic way of doing it - can I use that to move *.* to \\xxxx\xxx and have it set to run every few mins - there must be a cleverer way than that though.

I'm running Win7.
Thanks for any help,
worto.

  • There's certainly proprietary software out there (watchdirectory.net, for example) but I don't see any benefit of it over a batch file added to your scheduled task list; that's an elegant, free solution.
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.

Can you not map a drive letter to the NAS, so that the camera software will see it as a local drive?

Maybe, I'm only just about to order it so I'll give that a try first, I hope so as that will solve everything - hopefuly with a firmware update in future it will just do it directly from the camera. I'll get on with ordering it and will have a play.

    thanks,
