Does anyone know of an insurance policy that will cover my car for breakdowns within Europe for one full year? There are plenty of policies that will cover for a year but have restrictions on the length of individual journeys within that one year period.

Any help much appreciated.

you could try ADAC in Germany. You don't need to be a German resident and the site (or parts of it) are in English.

They use the AA in the UK and have a very good reputation. Lots of the track day/car enthusiasts use them as they are one of the only companies that offer recovery from the Nurbergring.

Thanks for that great suggestion. I'm going to give them a call.

Hi there, you could also try looking at the AA's website for more information. For ease our link is as follows:http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/overseas/index.html

nice link but the best you can offer is......

    "Annual Multi-trip Cover
This covers a person in any eligible vehicle. It provides 12 months' multi-trip cover for an unlimited number of motoring trips abroad, but each individual trip within the year cannot exceed 90 days. You can make a maximum of three claims per year."

which is exactly what the OP doesn't want.

OP: Report back on the ADAC if you have any luck please

vaio is right. Annual multi trip policies, at most places (including the AA) will only provide cover upto 31/90 per trip. So don't be duped by the "annual" !!

However, it is worthwhile contacting the following European breakdown cover providers :

    (i) European Breakdown Cover

    (ii) European Breakdown Cover (EVBC)

Strangely named, suspect they have other ambitions with their naming convention. Nevertheless, they can provide bespoke insurance cover from experience. Their standard annual cover will only cover you up to 31 days per trip so watch out on that - but just contact them and they should be able to create another policy for you (& it will probably be way cheaper than the AA & RAC's obscene prices - you could buy another car with the cost of their policies!).

If the above is of any use - please Thank me. If not, please let me know so I do not suggest again.

    All the best.....

You don't say how old you are - if over 50 SAGA offer 365 day overseas use and breakdown cover.

True. I insure with them and spent 5 months in Europe on a single trip last year. I'm doing the same this year.
