Another Asprea thread...

Seems to be an annual tradition!
We had a major leak from a bathroom down into our kitchen in early October. We covered (through our British Gas cover) the leak itself but there was quite a bit of damage otherwise: much of the kitchen celing had to be removed, the walls need to be re-painted, the solid oak floor was water damaged, etc.
It will be no surprise to anybody that Asprea have been completely useless. So far - in four months - they have repaired the ceiling but not re-painted it and done exactly nothing else.
We keep being visited by the area manager who tuts and sympathises but doesn't actually get anything done.
What should we do next? I complained, by the way, in writing to Barclays Insurance in early January but they haven't responded.
In choosing a firm with which to renew the insurance, my first question was: do you use Asprea? I made sure the answer was "no", so I know these cowboys are costing the insurance companies money!

I think Aviva took these crooks in house but I see they're still wreaking havoc. You did better than I did in getting anything done and also in getting an area manager to call. My thread is elsewhere on the forum but in a nutshell my roof was damaged by a violent hailstorm, the "surveyor" came and took a photograph from 50 feet away and told me I'd been unlucky with the wind direction and it wasn't an insurance issue. I sent him on his way for wasting my time and he went away and fabricated a two page report on his findings and all the advice he'd given me. I made a detailed complaint to Asprea and Barclays. I got a two line reply from Asprea from a technical surveyor saying that the photograph showed no sign of "storm displacement". All complaints about the fabricated report were ignored by Asprea and Barclays. There was even a muppet on here who claimed to represent Aviva but she ignored my message as well despite asking me to give her the details.
Sadly I can't advise you on your next move as being ignored was as far as I got.:)
When I changed insurer my first question was "Do you use Asprea?"0
