repeated erroneous deletion of signature

Good evening, or in fact morning.

My signature has been repeatedly deleted and replaced with an unsightly message telling me that my signature has been deleted, and what I should do if I need more information. I followed the instructions and read the site guidelines and determined that I had not contravened any of the rules.

My signature was made up of the following two posts from a poster who was recently banned, I can only assume for comments just like these, and then unbanned (feel free to click the little arrows to track back to the original comments).

Just think, if you weren't so lazy you might be able to climb the social ranks and get out of the underclass and actually make a difference.:rotfl:

I already am. Now run along and sit in your dingy little underclass hovel.;):D

Bear in mind that whilst both of these ill tempered comments clearly break the rules of the forum regarding decorum in dealing with other posters, they were both aimed at me.

I choose not to be offended by petty nonsense, even when someone chooses to use information I have posted asking for help on the benefits section of the board in a misguided attempt to troll me in discussion time. In fact I take it as a compliment.

So why would my signature be removed? It's not against the rules to quote someone in your signature (unless I missed something), and I'm not the only poster who does so. The posts can't be that offensive, because they're still there, despite being repeatedly removed from my signature. I'm not linking to another site, or advertising, so I fail to see the problem.

As an aside, I think it's worth discussing the role of the benefits section on this site. Obviously it is there to help the people who need help with their money situation, just like every other sub section of the boards in their own way. Yet it seems to me that there is a small group of posters who not only regularly disrupt threads in that section which ask for advice, simply because they want to criticise the poster involved, but also try to drag information posted there into other forums to continue attacking that poster.

It's important to ask how a prospective poster who needed to ask for advice would view this behaviour. Perhaps they might be put off this site by it.

Anyway, in the mean time, I'm putting my signature back. I did consult the rules as the replacement one asked me to and found there to be no problem.

Regardless of the specifics if anyone has had a signature removed by my team - with a note saying it has been removed - then it is breaking site rules - and if someone chooses to put it back the signature without discussing it with forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com then I would expect the team to simply PPR (block) that person from posting on this site (and they'd have my full support doing so)

So could I please suggest you email the forum team and discuss what an acceptable signature is with them before doing anything else.

    Kind regards
