Advice regarding laminate flooring and applicances

Hi, were having new laminate flooring laid in the kitchen next week instead of lino, would anyone recommend having caster wheels fitted to all the appliances or felt pads. The reason is that we have ruined to pieces of lino in the past and I have seen what happens when you move furniture over laminate.

Any ideas or recommendations please?

I have laminate in my kitchen and lounge, I have felt pads on the sofa legs, chair legs, washing machine, fridge etc. A bit of a faff getting them onto a heavy appliance, and they do need changing periodically as they can get dusty, but worth it in my opinion to prevent damage to laminate. Having felt pads on the washing machine/fridge freezer means I can pull them out very easily monthly to clean behind, I have kittens who think it is fun to put stuff underneath them!
  • Remove all appliances and install the laminate first!

Laminate in kitchens can be risky...
  • That is very ideal for beautification but laminate flooring in kitchen is risky!

Yes we are moving all the appliances first, and yes we considered the risks like water etc. Just wanted a change. It looks like felt pads are the best.

We have Karndean in the kitchen (previous owners put it there). We are now in the process of redecorating the house, and this floor is staying. Further more, we are putting down engineered wood in the other rooms downstairs, but decided that the hallway will get the Karndean as well, as it is so hard wearing.

We had a leak recently in the kitchen (dishwasher hose connection started leaking without being touched!), and no damage to this. Our washing machine leaks time from time (we never found out where, just one every few months we will have about half glass of water on the floor in one corner), no damage at all.

We have Karndean in the hallway and, when we can afford it, we want it in the living room too. I'm fed up of the 'cream' carpet we had laid because it was trendy!

Already have the laminate and to be honest I dont like tiles. Willing to take the risk of leaks, dont have a dishwasher and never had a leak in 15 years so I will probably have one just after its fitted!

If you go to a hardware shop or even poundstretchers they sell some plastic cup things built for the job of under washing machines,
    fridges etc.

Ive had laminate on my floor in my kitchen for years and never had a problem, if you want laminate, go for it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
