Thanks but I only have Santander accounts, including savings ones which I use to transfer money. I usually fail security questions on the phone bank because I don't know what my direct debits are, I only know if I can access the online banking system to see them.

I am getting angrier by the day and as soon as I am back on my feet after the op we are going to look for a different bank.

I have just realised that you can get a paper statement each month on the current acount (we get one). If you you have opted for paperless billing just reverse that it so you get the paperwork statements which will allow you to see all your direct debits etc. You should also have record of direct debits from your telephone, energy statements, council tax etc. I have to admit one of the security question did ask about payments made over the last 30 days so in the meantime if you pay for any petrol or goods do keep a record. I have a feeling the default for the overdraft allowed is £200 so you could try that. Good luck!

Then the next hurdle is calling the help line .....where they ask you question after question, I know this is for our security safety but one question they ask me is what is my overdraft I don't actually know as I have never used it....you think this would be enough to know that I don;t use it along with the other million questions they ask, but no, answer just one question wrong and I am now locked out on the internet and also now can;t get my balance over the phone. What to do next I must wait until the next day for a call back, and so they can do an experion credit check on me........

I recently had this issue with Santander too. I failed the what is your overdraft limit question and they then wouldn't help me unless I had an Experian credit check. I've never been in my overdraft (it was an A&L account of 12 years) and told them that but this failed me. I expected some further security questions such as recent payments, mothers maiden name etc that I've had with other banks and i almost agreed to the credit check as he said something along the lines of we will need to perform some more security and then tagged on that it was an Experian credit check. I found this quite bizarre and refused. I was only calling to confirm a payment had gone into my account as I didn't have my online banking details with me.
