Sending parcels to Norway

Hey everyone

I have searched the forums quite extensively, but can't figure out why it is so expensive to send parcels to Norway. There is a section about sending parcels cheaply on the main site, and I have tried every one of the quoted sites. Many of them start off by saying "international delivery from..." but when you put the details in then the price goes up.

I have had good deals in the past from parcelsplease and parcel machine, but not this time, all in all, airmail seems best.

Any other ideas?

thanks in advance.

When you send parcels or mail overseas, via the Post Office, you have to bear in mind that the Post Office has to pay the destination company to deliver that mail. Each country will set a tariff for doing this and it maybe that Norway is a particularly expensive country to send items to. It wouldn't surprise me as Scandivaia is usually pretty expensive for anything.

However, Surface Mail takes longer but is usually cheaper. There is a weight restriction of 2Kgs. see here:

What are you sending.....size and weight?

Anything to do with Norway is invariably expensive!

If it is something small, i think the airmail rates are the same to most European countries.

Hi - I used to send parcels to Norway as my ex's family live there. Don't have to do it anymore :T

However I think that is may be more expensive as they are not in the EU.

How about sending them vouchers, like Amazon.

Their non EU membership is irrelevant.

I did say 'may be' as I wasn't sure but thanks for correcting me :rotfl:
  • Used parcel2go to send a box to Hong Kong.

Was stuck at Manchester airport for a couple of days, so contacted the company, who said that they shouldn't have acceped the parcel from us because of where we lived , Isle of Man !!
Once they'd agreed that it was their problem, they sent it on it's way.

Apart from that delay, cheap and expedient.

  • Thanks for the replies, I'm sending 4kg, 10cm x 15cm x 20cm, it's coming out around 5 UK pounds more expensive than by airmail.

I used interparcel for the last couple of years. But I agree - sending something abroad is not cheap! I just entered your numbers, and the cheapest comes out at £28.10.
