WTC & The Self Employed

Hi,

I am looking around at the moment for a new job.

Some jobs won't give me 30 hours per week which would qualify me for working tax credit.

So I am looking at ways to bump up my hours and possibly my income.

If I was to be a self employed mystery shopper (which I have done in the past) so earning very little or nothing would this be able to be added to existing employed work to make 30 hours?

Thanks In Advance

:D:D:D
Thanks!! :D:D:D

Are you guaranteed this work every week to make your 30 hours of paid employment?
  • I would make sure I did enough hours per week, yes

In the future, the govt is proposing that under the abolishion of tax credits and replacement of benefits/allowances, the risk goes back on the self-employed and the subsidy from the tax payer is ceased.

The govt is proposing that when the Universal Credit system is introduced in a few years time, the self employed will be treated as if they earn the National Minimum wage even if their profits are lower.

If this goes through in its current form, those undertaking self employment with little or no income from it will be treated as if they have a higher one.

There is already a thread on this in discussion time but to summarise, it penalises self employed who are newly starting up and those who have a poor trading year.

There is already a thread on this in discussion time but to summarises, its about how tax payers are penalised by being forced to support failing enterprises mainly established to parachute the recipients into tax credits.
